Forward Deployed Engineer
About Neuron Factory
NeuronFactory is building an AI-native platform for pre-construction for large-scale, multibillion dollar construction companies around the world. We help estimators, project managers, risk teams, lawyers, and the many other professionals working in pre-con analyze tenders, generate RFQs, compare supplier quotes, and create comprehensive project estimates - often transforming tedious multiday day manual processes into an intelligent, collaborative experience.
We're at an exciting inflection point: our traction is strong, and now we need to deploy new and exciting agents for them to collaborate with.
The Role
You'll spend half your time embedded with clients like major construction firms and engineering consultancies, understanding their pain points firsthand and rapidly prototyping solutions. The other half, you'll be transforming those prototypes into production-grade systems that handle terabytes of data and mission-critical workflows. Think full-stack engineering prowess meets technical evangelism and solution architecture.
This role reports to the CTO and requires someone who can code as confidently as they can present to C-suite executives.
What You'll Do
Client Engagement & Technical Discovery
- Embed with enterprise clients (construction firms, engineering consultancies) to deeply understand their workflows, bottlenecks, and data landscape
- Conduct technical discovery sessions with stakeholders ranging from estimators to CTOs
- Identify high-impact use cases where our agents can deliver immediate value
- Build trust and credibility as the technical face of Neuron Factory
Rapid Prototyping & Solution Development
- Design and build functional prototypes that demonstrate our platform's capabilities, often in 1-2 week sprints
- Work with complex, messy enterprise data—PDFs, spreadsheets, legacy databases, email threads—and make it queryable and actionable
- Implement custom integrations with client systems (ERPs, procurement tools, project management platforms)
- Create compelling demos that showcase "wow moments" and drive client excitement
Production Engineering & Platform Development
- Transform successful agent prototypes into robust, scalable production agents
- Build full-stack applications: backend services (Python, microservices), APIs, databases (DynamoDB, vector stores like Pinecone), and user interfaces (React, Streamlit, etc)
- Develop and optimize AI/ML pipelines: document processing, RAG systems, agent orchestration (CrewAI, LangChain), LLM integrations
- Ensure code quality, testing, and documentation for features that will serve multiple enterprise clients
Technical Leadership & Knowledge Transfer
- Document client workflows, technical requirements, and solution architectures
- Share insights from the field to inform product roadmap and engineering priorities
- Train clients on platform capabilities and best practices
- Contribute to internal tooling, frameworks, and deployment infrastructure
What We're Looking For
Required
- 5+ years of full-stack software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production systems
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern web frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, React, or similar)
- Experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL), APIs, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Demonstrated ability to work with AI/ML systems—whether that's LLMs, embeddings, RAG architectures, or classical ML
- Exceptional communication skills: you can explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and write clear documentation
- Customer-first mentality with experience in client-facing roles (solutions engineering, consulting, technical sales, or similar)
- Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration in a fast-paced startup environment
- Willingness to travel ~30-40% to client sites
Preferred
- Experience in developer relations, technical evangelism, or solutions architecture roles
- Background in enterprise software, particularly working with large, complex datasets and legacy systems
- Familiarity with construction, engineering, or industrial workflows
- Knowledge of document processing, OCR, and information extraction techniques
- Experience with modern AI frameworks: LangChain, CrewAI, vector databases
- Understanding of graph databases and knowledge graphs
- Contributions to open source or technical writing/speaking experience
Why This Role Is Unique
- Direct Impact: Your work immediately influences how billion-dollar construction projects are managed and delivered
- Technical Depth: Work on genuinely hard problems—multilingual document understanding, multi-agent orchestration, complex workflow automation
- Ownership: You'll shape both the product and how we go to market with it
- Learning Curve: Exposure to cutting-edge AI, enterprise architecture, and an industry ripe for transformation
Team: Work directly with founders who've built infrastructure at Waymo, Microsoft (AI supercomputers for OpenAI), Google, and LinkedIn
